I am guessing that Mad Aussie or Antz would have posted photos of rainbow lorikeets somtime in the past, but here is my take. These birds are everywhere around here. They make a hell of a noise and used to make a real mess of my apple tree. They do look nice though. .

That bird is brighter than a rainbow!

Aww, they're just being cute and friendly.;) I like the way the second one is sneaking around for a bite, like you won't see it.

We have both, but these birds are so individual. This a particularly nice specimen. Very nicely captured. I also agree than can make one heck of a racket in large numbers.

WOW, I would say they are colourful. You captured it so well with some lovely sharp detail. Love that closeup of the second shot. Amazing sharp eye, and feather detail.

Not just the birds have the glorious colour, the background bokeh is stunning as well. Love #2.

Yep, we both have put the Rainbows up here before of course ... but yours are very nice too. I think it's where you get them that makes it special, and those red buds really help. Nice work.

Very nice! Love the second one especially! They have such personality. Their beaks are like flower blossoms in their own right. These guys are nectar feeders are they not?

Thank you everyone for your comments. I think most credit should go to the bird - it is easy to make nice photos with an attractive model

Birdsinbackyards.net tells me they are nectar feeders The Rainbow Lorikeet mostly forages on the flowers of shrubs or trees to harvest nectar and pollen, but also eats fruits, seeds and some insects., but my first hand experience is at my former home where they used to eat into my apples and plums. As soon as the fruit was ripe a hoard of them would ravage the fruit and strip the tree in couple of days. I wished I had taken a video of the tree where I took these photos on the weekend, as these birds were there in their dozens and made the loudest racket. Not nice dinner party guests.
