I've spent the majority of the last week sick in bed so I haven't been too active on the forum as of late. I finally managed to drag myself out for a short time a try out my new 7D. These aren't the greatest pictures. My 55-250 lens is certainly not the sharpest lens in the bag (in fact it is probably the worst), but I wanted to at least try out the servo mode and it's quick bursting. Anyway, here is what I came up with in the half hour I was there.

Really likin the comp in that first one. Seems focus is on the farthest goose. (With a little smaller aperture they would have all been in focus).
Seagull shot is spot on. Very nicely done.
Rest of the geese are in obvious tough lighting, but well controlled.
Gotta love the 7D for for its tracking ability in front of busy backgrounds.

Don't think I could say it any better.

It is cruel when you have a new toy and cant get to play with it due to illness or work etc. I cant add much more than what HBG said - you have captured some nice action there. I hope you get well soon and I look forward to seeing some more from the new camera

Thanks guys. Need some more practice and a better lens (definitely my next purchase). Currently leaning towards the 70-300 L lens when I've saved up enough $$$. It was a fairly dull day so I had boosted the ISO to 1600, with f5.6 to get a speed of 1/1000. Perhaps I could have lowered the speed to 1/500 and closed down 1 stop to get a bit more DOF.

Hoping for a white Christmas (doesn't look promising though), so I can get away from this dull rainy weather we've been having. I want to get some winter shots. If things don't change I may have to head north to HBG country (just kidding HBG).

lovely set! I really dig those geese on white - works well for me.

Thanks Marko. Seeing as it was such a white sky anyway, and there was very little colour, I decided to turn it into a B&W and emphasize the white background.

Feels good to get out, doesn't it? I like the second one for the tones and patterns on the gull softly repeated by the twigs of the trees in the background.
