Wow! What an awesome shot. The back light is gorgeous combined with a well exposed front light. Were you standing in front of a white wall or did you have a flash going? Either way, excellent! :D

I always use flash on birds if I can :)

Just a fabulous image. I really appreciate the thought that went into this. Get the exposure right is one thing, but also the timing to make a good composition and the birds wing spread like with the sun in just the right spot. :thumbup:

I've been telling people for years to use their flashes for birds and wildlife ... works for me ;)

You say you used a flash. How far away was the bird. I would have thought it would have been outside of flash range.

I honestly couldn't tell you how far the bird was exactly but my flash will hit 20m or more depending on the settings such as ISO.
