This is a shot I've had on my list for a while now and as such this is a preliminary test, not the final version. My room mate here doesn't quite hold the vision making it difficult to get what I want from him. That, at the end of the day, is solely my fault for failing to communicate the idea. First of many I'm sure 'till I fulfill my vision.

I could comment here, but I'm not 100% sure what the vision is... Can you explain it a bit futher?
I do like the concept and the comp.

An interesting topic and it looks like a really good start. The story does need a little bit more but I'll await the final version :)

Yeah, Michaelaw, the title needs to be a bit more explained, I think .. not really sure what you are after with this shot ...

With what the world is like in many parts, it is only safe, and comforting, to sleep with a gun in hand. Sure glad I do not live in such fear, or in an area warranted these extreme actions.

(nice to see the finger in that position also, as so many I have seen are not so "safe")

Thanks all. The idea comes from the seventies and soldiers who returned from the war in Vietnam. It was, I'm lead to believe, a common practice in country to never sleep without your side arm. I have always wanted for some reason to get that image. I didn't capture the image on this pass because it was rapidly deployed as an idea to my room mate and I couldn't express the vision. HBG, I'm glad you picked up on the safety aspect but as the model is a gun owner it sort of happened. I would have much preferred his finger closer to the trigger if not on it. One of the problems here was that the model is a lefty which in the end I compensated for but never got close to a good image in that mode. It's all practice I guess:)

Ahhh Coming Home (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077362/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) is also a film about coming home after Vietnam war.

Not sure if the war reference is essential to the image...but if it is other props would be necessary. Perhaps military dog tags around the model's shirtless neck would be a nice touch.

If the war is not essential to the image I would change the title if this were mine. The position of the gun is good but I wonder how it would look with half of it under the pillow. (Sleeping with a gun under the pillow...seems to be related to post traumatic stress disorder).

Just thinkin' aloud...
