I am headed to New Orleans for the first time to shoot. I take New Orleans for granted because it's only 40 minutes from my house. I'm sure many of you and many other photographers would love to shoot New Orleans and its great history. I see some of y'all's pictures up in there in Canada. Nova Scotia would be one of my greatest places to shoot. I love the coastal fishing villages like Bambi shot.

Are you like me and take for granted the places around you to shoot? You see all these beautiful shots from other people around the country and around the world and wish you could shoot there not realizing what you have in your own backyard?

I think people do that with vacations too. We go on vacation and explore other cities, but we don't know what's in our own city.

Yes I would love to shoot the palces you mention too.

I agree that we take for granted our own area. I have actually enjoyed getting out searching for windows and at the saem time discovering all sort of things I never knew exisited in my own city.

I completely agree with you, Antiquetiger. However, when you realize this it does open up a whole new opportunity to really see what's around you. Hell, I experience this with my own backyard! I'll go months and months without "seeing" anything, then all of a sudden, I see so much that it becomes difficult to manage all the photos!

I only started shooting my own city a few years ago.
But when you get into it...it's fairly addictive.
