A little over a month ago I got the idea to build a few bluebird boxes just to see what would happen. My wife told me it was likely a waste of time as we have only ever seen a couple of fleeting glimpses of them...ever. I told her that if nothing else it will be a good "father-son" project to build them.
About 2 weeks ago my 3 year old and I are in the backyard building a swing set, when he yells at me, telling me that there is birds in the birdhouse. Sure enough, we had some eastern bluebirds. Since then we have had fun monitoring their nest building, feeding them insects and as of 8am there was 5 eggs in the nest.

The next 2 were taken with the 1.4xTC on the 400 5.6L, so focusing was either manual focus or with Liveview AF(contrast-detect).

Very nice. Love the IQ of the TC shots, which seems to be just fine. Sigh ... the 500mm is going to come up in my conversations with my wife again ....

Very nice images and story. Thanks for sharing. I like how you've composed the shots. My favourite is the last one with the bird amongst the white blossums.

I also like your compositions here. It's always nice when a project actually works.

Nicely done on all Mike, and seems the TC didn't hinder the iq that much at all.
