I have everything I need except the iPad mount, but I am wondering if I took this mount to my tripod, used the connector/cable and shot in RAW/jpg, would I get an instant review of each shot or can I shoot while my camera is hooked up to the iPad?

Wow, I posted this on another forum and someone replied with the following. I didn't know they even existed. It's the Eye-Fi SD card. It creates a wifi signal to instantly view your shots on iPhone/iPad, etc.

WiFi SD Cards: Eye-Fi Memory Cards: Wireless Photo and Video Uploads from your Camera to your Computer & the Web | Eye-Fi (http://www.eye.fi/?utm_expid=1369600-0)

Yup eye fi has been around for a good 5 + years.
I've never tried it but i'd be very interested to hear if it works smoothly. Raw files are between 10-36 MB on many cameras - the speed of transfer would be my main question.
It would be great to examine photos in the field - but if it takes 30 seconds+ to load....hassle imo as it wrecks the flow.

I went and bought the Eye Fi Mobi 8GB class 10 HD card ($50 at Bestbuy). It took two minutes to set up on my iphone/ipad, and boom, I take a picture and it is on my phone in about 5 secs. I do have to shoot in RAW/jpeg

very cool.
So you don't need your own wifi connection, you can do this anywhere in the world?

No wifi required, it makes its own private hotspot only viewable to the devices you set it up with. The salesman at Best Buy actually wasn't sure and thought you had to be in a wifi hotspot to use it. I bought it and told him I would tell him how it works. He said I could bring it back if it didn't work.

Now I can instantly view HD shoots within seconds after shooting them to make sure I got all the right WB, etc

High definition Chimping!!!!!

supremely cool. VERY happy to hear this.

I have to ask though, it's using somebody's cell connection tower no?

Not sure why it's free - GPS uses free satellites (is that what's goin on?) - because I've never heard of free wifi.
Some company (Starbucks, cities, individuals or organization always pays.) Is Eye fi paying for the connection?

It's generating its own wifi, about a 90' diameter hotspot. It's not connected to the Internet, it is just broadcasting a simple signal that your phone or tablet picks up and downloads the images instantly. It has nothing to do with the Internet.

I'm not sure yet, but if you get into a Internet wifi spot, you can upload your images from your camera to your home computer from anywhere in the world.

Cool - 'preciate the info. UN-fortunately for me....they use SD cards only it seems. :(

Down side to the SD card, it sucks in "Sports" mode because the recording time is slow as hell, and if you get one, you should use a tablet, not a smart phone. I thought I had an great shot today, it looked amazing on my phone. I get home, realize the entire thing is soft.
