There's a nice waterfall near where I live. I ran over there at lunch time to grab a few photos. We've had so much rain lately, that the falls were a white, raging torrent--that paired with nearly direct sun on the falls with shadows all around from the trees made for either a badly over exposed falls or nearly blacked out trees, ferns and rocks. So, I decided to try to look at some of the details around the falls. Here's one that I got:

Sorry Jason, you have nice colors, exposure, detail on the rock, & silky water flow, but the shot is kind of boring (IMO). Its just a picture of a rock. Maybe try getting lower to the ground and shoot across the river to get some of the other bank, even if it is OOF.

Thanks for the feedback, AT!

I disagree with At here. The slow shutter and comp makes the shot.
Although im looking from an iphone Shot works well for me for many of the reasons at stated.
not boring at all in my book.

Either way I think you did the best you could with what you had to work with.

I like it in its minimalism.

I really like this image alot. Sometimes less is more. I like the warm tones too

I really like it too. The white (foam/bubble) streaks. along with the shadow & light separation set it apart from other moving water shots. I bet it would look great printed large and metallic.

I agree here totally. VERY well seen and executed. My only teeny nit would be to crop the bottom just below the foam on bottom right. The dead water there keeps grabbing my eye, and this shot, to me, is all about the water movement,
Then PINT it and hang it, as suggested.

Just a rock? Hmmm...damn nice photograph in my book. Nicely done, Jason.

Taking a mundane subject and making it interesting can be a challenge for sure but I think you've done well.

The water colours, the lines of movement, the movement and softness itself contrasted with the sharpness of the rock all work well for me. As does the exposure and light and shadow.

I may have placed the rock slightly further into frame perhaps but overall I think it's a cool shot.
