this shot is 2 images edited with gimp, Both pictures were shot using iso auto and no flash
shot 1 - f11 1/25
shot 2 - f11 1/60

i did not use a tripod for either, the bur was somthing i was going for, i changed postions for each shot, but stayed in the same general area (ie my right foot stayed planted)

the subject is a good friend of mine so i want to make this picture as appealing as i can so CRITIQUE! lol
thanks

I don't know what to say Merman..... I'm just not into this shot....

The effect of the double exposure looks more like it was shot through a glass reflection. The colours are too funky. Face is covered up. It's soft.

This is all IMO of course. If you like it than sing it proud.

I'll have to agree with Travis I think on this one, but then I'm not a great one to ask about photos that no longer look photographic but more graphic. I'm very select on this.

Having said that though I love the creativity and understand what you are trying to do here.

For me, I'd want to see some more in focus areas .... amp perhaps ... hat ... something. And the colours would have to be less transparent.

I'm wondering if the look you are going for could be achieved with a 2nd Sync flash and about a half or full sec exposure?

I agree with Mad Aussie and Travis here. Perhaps if were able to see his face it would add another element...but as it is now it's not the most effective shot imo.

his face can be hard to get (especially during face melting solos lol), but i can see were more focus could be a plus, next time i will definetly try the second/slow sync, and play around a bit as well, i just hope i can get that smoke effect again.

the pic is not too graphical, this is what i did;
overlayed shot 1 over shot 2
selected a grain merge on shot 1
tweaked the saturation a little
cropped

i will admit the shot was affected by the few beverages i had that night,
dont drink and shoot!

thanks for the honesty everyone!

I think the element in the upper left is distracting. It is very creative... I like the concept and I would go after it again:) A few less element in the background to simplify things:)
