Hey Folks.

I know I have not been on here much, sorry for that. Between reno of my house, and working 2 jobs I've had very little time to shoot let alone post :wall-an:

Anyway, I thought come look around today and perhaps I'd share a couple variations of a shot I took last week and see what you think of them. This started as a basic HDR shot with no effects made up of 8 frames.
I hope you like.

This is nice play John - I like the comp, though I wish there was a hint more room at right.
Both versions are nice to my eye PP wise. One thing I would pay attention to with these HDRs though is the haloing. In this case it's around the barn which is more noticeable in the BW. In the colour I see it mainly at the top right. (we did a podcast on this just recently if you'd like to take a listen - http://www.photography.ca/blog/2013/04/23/noise-halos-chromatic-aberration/ )
Hope that may help.

Thank you Marko.

Yes the bit of room it needs on the right was lost from the crop. When I shot it I kinda screwed up and shot it dead center so did a small crop off the right side just to throw it off center a bit.
I opted not to pull back the zoom when I took it because oddly enough this old barn is in town, so I zoomed in tighter to cut out the houses and powerlines near by.

The Haloing was a bit of judgement call. I wanted these shots to have just a slight surreal feel without overdoing it, so I didn't bother to try taking it out. I thought it just added a bit of character to the shots.

I'll have be honest with you though....I'm going to enjoy that podcast because if I tried to get rid of the Halos, I likely would have not done the best job of it so I was lucky they appealed to me in this case or I may have canned the whole shot :) I'm ok in photoshop and lightroom but far from an expert yet with the more creative parts, and I was already about 4 hours into these 2 versions and getting frustrated LOL. Thanks for the link sir.

Cool old building. The colour is pretty punchy and it works for me.
