It reminds me of something else, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I hate it when that happens. I mean, its right on the tip of my tongue. Oh well, it'll come to me. It always does.

Reminds me of the blood that will be lost this season by the So. Car Gamecocks and the Clemson Tigers!!!

Seriously, I don't know how old you are, but it reminds me of an old Memorex cassette tape commercial.

I am not sure if it is just me, but the glass seems tilted just a tad to the right. The right side corner of the liquid is just lower than the left side corner. I might be nitpicking (little things like this drive me crazy, I guess I am a little OCC).

It is a beautiful image, tho.

Twelve hours later and man does my head hurt. Yep, its a tad off. It looked straight last night. I'll fix it later.

Now, lets talk about this loss of blood. I hope you guys, and everyone else in the SEC, clobber the lamecocks this year. I just don't understand why you're being so mean to my Tigers. ;-)

Maybe you were partaking in the martinis, thats why it looked straight. I do enjoy martinis. I only like vodka, little dirty, shake the crap out of it, straight up. Nothing better than those ice flakes in the martini.

BTW, I am watching the Gamecocks right now, whipping up on UNC.

I like mine that way, too. Had a couple of those before I snapped this one and a few more of the flavored ones in post. Moral of the story... don't drink and edit. :o

Very strong image - Lots going for it including symmetry. i dig it!
My only comment would be that it might be cool to play with the negative space a bit more.
Cropping 1/4 inch from the left and right would make the diagonal of the glass match the image's diagonal even better.
Just a thought.

I 'preciate that Marko and HBG. I'll throw one more up and leave it at that.

Love these BF. Are you able to share your expertise and advise if they are backlit?. I tried some "wine in glass" shots recently (for the favourite things assignment actually) and all I ended with were heaps of refelections and discarded them. Yours are brilliant

that second one is cool as well - hard to choose a fave - I wonder...maybe show them side by side?

Not a problem, brother. I open a blank word doc in full screen mode on the iMac for the background and use one or two small led light-paks that were made for video to light the front. I had to build a little table to elevate the martini glass for framing and I put a white surface beneath the glass to try to keep the bottom as clear as possible. Turned out all the lights in the room and, as result, the surrounding blackness gave decent edge definition.

Unless you overexpose, even using some front light, you'll get a silhouette. But, you can do that since the background is already nearly pure white. Speaking of white, a WB correction will defiantly be in order during post as well as levels and/or curves.

Both of these were done High Key in Color Efex Pro, but they also went through, in this order, Define, Pro Contrast, and Glamor Glow before they were done in High Key.
