It goes a long way in making Adobe's “new plan” a little easier to swallow for those who feel they actually need CSx.

Over the last few years Adobe has been quietly adding features to PSE and when version 9 came out it included the ability to use layer mask without the need of convoluted workarounds or shaky third party actions. Thats when I deactivated and uninstalled CS4 simply because I didn't feel the need to drive a Bugatti Veyron to run the few errands I ask of my software. I'm using PSE11 now and it's capable of much more than I am and cost under $100.

As for LR, I've purchased each version since LR3. I just never use it. It's a layers thing, I guess. I really use them a lot and feel crippled without them.

I guess I'll be "sleeping with the fishes", because it's an offer I can easily refuse.

p.s.- I have deactivated copies of PSE9 & 10 laying around, both of which play nicely with Nik (except HDR Efex) and OnOne plug-ins, and will happily mail one or the other to anyone who might like to try a better piece of software than they're now using.

Previously, the 9.99 deal for Adobe photoshop and Lightroom was for previous owners only, but Adobe has a new Black Friday deal that is available to everyone.

Previously I couldn't take advantage of that offer because I was already a subscriber to Photoshop cc, which didn't count as having been a previous owner. I exchanged a few words with their support people at the time as the previous offer it was very misleading

As of 8 hours ago my monthly charge has halved and I also now have Lightroom 5 included as well. Much happier now

I also went back to Adobe and asked for the 9.99 deal. They cancelled my 19.99 Photoshop subscription and I enrolled in the 9.99 Photoshop and LR deal. I am quite pleased about that. :).

The new deal ends on Dec. 2, 2013 apparently though, so anyone who wants it should do so right away.

It is quite an attractive offer.

One of the disadvantages of living in Australia is the discriminatory pricing model where we often pay significantly more than the rest of the world for software/ music downloads etc. When I first signed up I was confronted with paying close to $1000 for Photoshop CS6 (approx $2000 for the full suite) or the subscription model at $29.99 per month. At those figures it was better for me to subscribe to cc if I was planning to even keep up with approx every 2nd or 3rd update

After the government launched an investigation into the discriminatory pricing Adobe suddenly reduced the price to $19.99 p/month. Now with the latest update I am down to $9.99 including light room.

Subscription has actually worked really well for me

I already have and love LR5, but the $9.99/month was enough to get me to subscribe. I may have had a copy of PS CS5.1, but I feel better having a legit copy now. Plus the warning messages round-tripping from LR to and older release of PS were getting a bit tedious.

Much sweeter deal imo. Would all the usual plug ins (Topaz, Nik etc) work seamlessly with this version?

Nik works fine on mine, you just need to know where to copy the plugins (as the old automatic installer that had didn't recognise CC during install).

As an aside, have you noticed Nik has a new module that automatically downloaded and installed. Analog efex pro. I don't think I will use it much for what I do though

Yep, Topaz works just fine with Photoshop. It is seamless too. I load into LR, do my preliminary editing. If I do decide to further edit, I send the pic I am working on to Photoshop, do whatever editing I like including Topaz. Hit save, hit close. Your edited photo is now back in LR where you started.

I just signed up yesterday, I had a very old version of PS, and am really looking forward to playing with the new one!
