I was lucky enough to have a windfall; so I decided to be extremely selfish and I went to the Camera Store. Now I am also a proud owner of a D800, and in addition I bought a Tokina 16-28 f2.8. My Tokina 12-24 bit the dust, and fixing it was not a reasonable thing to do. It is one eerie feeling inserting your credit card into the money vacuum at the store ... I was literally shaking because of this. Sure hope I am getting enough enjoyment out of it ...(Who am I kidding, of course I will!!!!!!!!) Good thing is that most of my lenses are full fram lenses, so I do not have to buy much glass ... then there is always that new lens ... oh noooooooooooooo

You'll love it. It was the best move that I made. Your right, bite the bullet and do it and the sticker shock will wear off when you start to see some of your results on your computer screen.

Well thanks all for your kind words of encouragement. And yes, it is a wonderful camera, no doubt about it. I thoroughly enjoy it, and I am sure I will rack up the shutter count on it for a long time. And Bambi, yes, it is a costly body, but well worth it. I started out with the D5000, still have it, then the D300S, and now I have come to this one. Would not have done it any other way.

Thought about it for while, as long as the fastest shutter speed allowed ... and after 1/8000 I said: nope, not a chance ....
