Dunes

[Mad Aussie]

These shots are from the northern end (Anna Bay) of Australia's longest beach. Stockton Beach is 32 kilometres long and home to, at the north end, sand dunes up to 30 metres high and stretching kilometres inland.

In WW2 concrete pyramid tank traps and barbed-wire entanglements were laid down and there are there to this day. The shifting sand dunes, which move about 4 metres a year, often uncover the war relics.

The beach is a very popular 4X4 destination for recreation 4X4 drivers who enjoy seeing the shipwreck SV Sygna about mid beach, fishermen, and even vehicle manufacturers who use the easily accessed dunes for testing.
