There was a lot of water vapour in the air near this spillway and after while I had quite a few droplets on my lens and I started to notice the flares. Rather than wiping it away I decided to shoot on for a bit and see what results I got. This is one of the shots after a little PP.

I can't decide if it's a keeper or not

Sure, why not! I do like the other one better tho.

Me too ... I got plenty of shots like the other one.

I think this rates as an example where flare works http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/hmm.gif

I think so too - gives it more a sense of being there - like as if the water were hitting your eye glasses. it also looks a bit like beer to me.

Didn't I mention that?
It IS beer. We make small lakes out of beer in Australia due to the heat. It makes for more car accidents but at least most of us are mellow when we slam into someone else http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/searchme.gif

Have you tried converting it to a duotone?

I like the concept but this photo does not work for what I think you are trying to accomplish, just way overblown in the upper right, just way to distracting. I like the composition of it just doesn't work for me.

Thanks AL. No JR, I like the colour of the water so much I never gave Duo a thought.

im curious as to why you like the color so much MA? i like the idea, composition & texture, (and even the flare!) but usually when i think of water, its always blue, or green - not brown....

Because it's not blue or green like always. I think it's cool because it's different. It's not actually brown though as such ... more golden from tannen in the water I think.

I don't mind the color. The lake here is brownish/red - similar to that in these pics. I'm not to crazy about this shot but there are many in the other series that I enjoy!!!!

Yeh this one is one of 'those' shots isn't it? I look at one minute and like it. Then the enxt time I don't. Which I guess tells me it's not one to bother wasting good harddrive space with ;)

I like the left half, especially the water underneath the main gushing body. And the flares adds a nice element. But the lack of contrast and the over exposure on the right side is too distracting and takes away from the whole image. I have a lot of those sorta-like/sorta-don't images too.

I could probably do so PP and pep up that bright upper right with something or another but in the end I'm beginning to agree that's it's not really worth the effort especially when I have several better images of the same location.

Slowly but surely I'm gaining that train of thought..boy does it save on wasting time!!!
