Banff Springs Hotel Interior with high ISO settings

Was itching to try the high ISO settings on the D800.... this is ISO 6400 ... twas pretty darn dark in them there rooms ....

Wow, that is amazing! I have not been up that high on my D800 yet, but it sure has been a godsend at event photography where with the help of a little flash, I can pop up the ISO to anywhere from 1250 to 2000 and get awesome results.

Thanks all, and now I find out I lied .. the second image was ISO 3200 ....

WOW. I'm envious of being able to shoot at that ISO. In the first one, normally you would think that you would need to do an HDR to expose between the inside and outside. Was the outside that dark that you could do this in a single exposure. (I'm assuming that with the lights on).

One shot, no HDR ... yes, the outside was dark as well ...I guess that is why it worked so well .. dis somw with flash, and they did not turn out good .. mainly because of the reflection in the window ..

Thanks all, and now I find out I lied .. the second image was ISO 3200 ....

…pants on fire! I find myself shooting handheld at ISO 400-800 in broad daylight just to keep the shutter speeds up there as high as I can get them without hurting the shot. The literature that comes with the camera suggest higher shutter speeds to help bring out all the detail that 36mbs provides.
