Baton Rouge City Park photo contest - please critique

The city of Baton Rouge is celebrating it's 100 anniversary of City Park. They are holding a photo contest of the park and winners will be displayed in the art gallery at the park. I went early this morning (but probably still too late). I grabbed a few but I am digging this one (maybe even in B&W)

The sky is great in this and really adds to it for me. The light coming in from the right side though just does'nt seem right for this one....low and behind you would have been nice if the building faces that way just to kinda spotlight the subject if you know what I mean.

Today at 5:21 pm AT's time, the sun will set and at 4:54pm it will be traveling down the center of the fountain AT was probably standing near when he got this shot placing it precisely where you suggest.

There's a slight amount of lens distortion that should be easily enough corrected. Contest, huh? I wonder how many more entries will have been made from the very same spot?

Wow, Barefoot, that thing is awesome. I was standing just in front of the bull's eye looking thing in the ground.

I am going to have to look into that software.

That software is free and it's gold. There's a learning curve to it though...

I like this image overall, but it feels far from the viewer. As for critique, I'd likely straighten both the horizontal and vertical the lines in the building (which will crop into the image somewhat). I'd likely milk more highlight detail from the clouds at left as well.Hope that may help.

I agree with all that has been said before me. In bringing out the detail in the clouds be careful of the colour of the sky on the left (it is starting to look a little unnatural compared to the rest of the sky).

Looking at the full size version I have noticed quite a bit of chromatic aberration around the edges that you may wish to correct. This may get worse as you work the clouds too. Assuming this was taken with the new 10-22mm, you will need to watch the CA with this lens as it can throw quite a bit lot of CA at the edges and corners.
