I was trying to decide if I wanted to be critiqued or not... what the heck, go for it.

This is the grandson again. Humoring me and my weird sense of what ever with the juxtaposition of a very, very boy in a tutu.

Nice job TT. I really liket his. The eyes are perfect. Great POV. This is an image that proves that family can be the best thing to take pictures of. It is something I need to work on myself. Shots like this are inspiration to try out new things. Good work!

JJ thanks so much! My grandson is my favorite subject. He is finally to the age that he will pose for me for a short time. Last fall was a different story. With kids, you cycle in and out of windows of a child's willingness to sit still long enough for a session. That is why most of my shots of the little guy are candids... secret is out! :D

nice capture - really love the eyes! i think the right side could be cropped, get rid of the dead space & focus straight in on his face. beautiful light...

Excellent P.O.V. here - love the elfin look!
It does look very dark on my monitor though and looks like it could use some more contrast.

"Hey... what's your name ... grandson ... come here I have something for you to wear"

"Cool Grandma ...what is it?"

"It's a tutu"

"It's a what what?"

"A tutu. A dancing skirt for girls"

"Are you crazy crazy?"

"I'm going to take a photo and you ARE going to wear this!"

"Grandad!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPPPPPP !!!!!"

"Grandad's not here! You can run ... but you can't hide"

"Please Grandma ... I'll eat all my peas tonight I promise!"

"Too little too late pipsqueak! Get over here and drop em!"

"Sniff ... sniff .... No ones ever going to see this photo right Grandma"

"Ummm ... errrr ... of course not"

"If they do I'm telling them why your sofa is all squishy!!"

By the time his parents get him back he'll be knitting his own sweaters, growing his own flowers, and picking out his own training bra!
It's going take 7 whole seasons of both Home Improvements AND Two and Half Men to get this kid back to knowing what he is! http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/hihi.gif

I should comment on the photo too I suppose .... regretfully ... I like it.
If ignore the tutu (deep breath), I really like the lighting and composition. It may be a frag too far left for me but the light/shadow thing works beautifully.
I think it's a great shot overall.

Shame there wasn't much more shadow about hip height ... the boy might have been able to keep his dignity! :p

i started on him with the idea of the tutu last oct. he REFUSED - "no way grma - those are for guuurrrrllllls."

for some reason, this trip home he softened and let me. LOL... i did the same thing to his dad and my brother when they were about the same age - but with my mom's long blond wig. if i ever find them, i will scan them and upload to here. don't hold your breathe, though. i guess growing up with miltie berle as a role model was not in good favor for my brother, son and now grandson.

how in the H e double tooth picks did you sneak in those 2 posts that were above mine??? they were not there before!:confused:

MA - it is perfectly natural for young boys to be dressed by the females in their lives as if they were ballerinas. take a poll, you will see that i am not off of my rocker. there are many, many of us out there. now, then. do you feel it would be fair to dress a little girl as a cowboy?

oops - did it again - my bad and rude -

thanks for all of the feedback and time you all took to comment on my effort to get in a squable with MA, er, I mean to display my art.

Marko - on this monitor it looks fine. i need a calibrator! i think i will take it back into ps and do the crop kiley suggested and the contrast marko suggested and the gradient ma suggested.

MA - you should see my really cool arty pics i did of grandson last fall! :D they are blurry b/c he would not sit still. sigh.

edit - tweaked the contrast a bit - applied a crop - tried the gradient - did not like it.
