This is a review translated into English for the Tamron 150-600mm super tele zoom. Looks quite promising for the money. I actually have one on order and will post pics/findings once I get it. Lot lighter, and more compact than my 500 f4L or 300 f2.8l ever were.

I saw the announcement for this one back in December. I love Tamron glass and really can't wait to see what you can do with this HBG. Put it on a body with an APS-C sensor, and it'll be a BMF. I'spec you have a tele-converter for that big'ole Canon of yours, huh?

Thanks BF. I have actually sold one 1DMkIV,(still have one), and bought a 5DMkIII. Also sold the 300 2.8L, and the 500 F4L. Got money put away to see what next. Haven't decided yet.
Just going to have a little fun with this lens as we do not shoot avian as much as before. Since moving here, have been more into the landscape, and sports/action side of things. Using the 24-70 f2.8L and the 70-200 f2.8 a LOT. The TC's from Canon will not work on the Tamron, would have to use a Kenko. Not worried much in regards to the slower aperture as I have shot up to 10,000 iso with the 5DMkIII in action shots and no noise problems, so low light vs shutter speed is not a problem here. I have shot iso 20,000 in landscape with great results also. The 1DMkIV is no slouch either being able to shoot iso 4,000 action at 10fps with no problem.
Now just waiting to see what Canon brings to the table next, as 1DX did not entice me at all.
Another link to an impressive 100% crop from this lens @600mm sooc.

Gee Monett! If cameras were weapons, you'd be nuclear. Gone are the days when a camera was just a box with a little hole to let light in.

Sadly cancelled my order until finding out what Tamron is going to do regarding the AI Servo focusing issues. Sent them an e-mail and right now they seem to be in denial of a problem????? In the meantime I do like the looks of that Sony A7r though for a carry around for in the boat or on side x side trips back in the bush, and now the a6000 at 11fps. Way too many decisions.:confused:
