For me, I would have to go with Annie Lebowitz's portrait of John Lennon, taken just hours before he was murdered.

What you say?

Fabulous question. Now I have to think. Hmmmm

I'd like to think our choices aren't based on monetary value though, just on what 'grabs' us.....

I know the image is valuable, but more importantly, historical.

O.M.G. a few come to mind:
The Candid Frame: A Photography Podcast: The Candid Frame #87 - Jay Maisel (http://thecandidframe.blogspot.ca/2009/12/candid-frame-87-jay-maisel.html)
Doisneau’s “The Kiss” (http://www.jentarara.com/write_assets/thekiss.html)
http://www.kunstmeranoarte.org/uploads/media/Elliott_Erwitt_France_Paris_1989_tour_eiffel_100th _anniversary_03.jpg

But one that I remember seeing years ago and I do not know who the photographer was nor even how to find it. Help me! It is of a priest crossing St. Peter's square early in the morning and wearing the traditional long black robes. He is alone and spinning Gene Kelly style. He just seemed so full of pure joy.

It would be one (or hopefully some) of my earlier photos from the 1960's which I no longer have. Foremost is my all-time favourite b&w of my daughter from 1978. It and the negative was lost in a move and I still think about it once in awhile. I'd give just about anything to have it back.

Sorry to hear that Andrew - personal photos are precious.

Man Ray, Jan Saudek, Joyce Tenneson are a quick 3 of many photographers whose work I drool over.

Love to have this one http://www.photography.ca/wp-content/uploads/photo-podcast-61-image2.jpg by Kertesz

I own an original Greenpeace slide of my favorite photograph, its of Paul Watson and Robert Hunter in front of an Ice breaker protecting baby seals. It was only 5 bucks on Ebay! Cool image!!! I watched a documentary movie on Paul Watson called "Pirate of the Sea", great movie.

Speaking of famous images we own, (I've said it before) I own the original panoramic (9"x44") image of the first game in LSU Tiger Stadium.

As I m a newborn baby photographer…. I love the work of Anne Geddes baby pics…
Instead putting the photograph into words I would like to post a pic which says itself more than words…
