View Full Version : How to get the static Flickr URL

Hi team

I hope I'm not the only one having this pain.
I always share my pictures in this forum by pasting the static Flickr pointers (for example http://farmX.staticflickr.com/2918/13480156285_b225d21b3d_o.jpg).
Flickr recently changed their site format and I find it very difficult to find a pointer to this. I actually had to open the HTML source file to get this information.
If this is not your case, do you mind sharing the steps you follow in your browser to get this? (IE or Firefox).

I struggled with linking to the new Flickr too. I am not sure if you specifically want a "static" link, but this is what I did to post my last image:

1 - clicked on the "share" icon,
2 - then the "pin" icon
3 - selected size and then
4 - selected & copied the code.
5- Posted the code directly in the body of my forum post.

Only think that sucks is that there is no more direct link to image on Flickr or the poster's Flickr page

Clicking on the image will take you to the Flickr page

Wow. Perfect. Works like a charm.
Just tested this in with a new post today.

One question Run, can I still view my "Original Size" image on Flickr? I cannot figure out how to do it.

I don't know how to view, but to download - you click on the "..." (3 dots) icon on the right and then choose "download / all sizes" choose the size and then "download"

Just had another look. After doing the steps above, instead of choosing download, click on "view all sizes" and it will take you to the old view all sizes page

This is great, RM. I wish I had seen this thread yesterday--took me about half an hour to work through all of that and post a pic to the assignments forum!

Just thought I would update this (as Flickr keeps changing their page layout).

When viewing the image you wish to share follow these steps:

1 - click on the "share" icon (the arrow) located at bottom right of page. The white box will pop up.
2 - then select BBCode icon
3 - choose the preferred size. I generally use large (1024 x 683) for horizontal images and medium (534 x 800) for vertical images.
4 - select & copy the code.
5 - Post the code directly in the body of the forum post.
