You may recall I posted a shot of him on the forum once before http://www.photography.ca/Forums/architecture-man-made-cities-buildings-roads-objects-abstracts/21175-irish-boy-contemplating-divinity.html

Nice framing again RM. Gotta ask, where exactly is this again?

Nice photo but I'm not sure what to think about that Irish 'boy'. Call me crazy, but the va j j confuses me here. As Marko said, what is the purpose of this exactly? He's macho girl? Irish boys are girlie? Smoking is bad for your genitals? I don't get it.

Smoking is bad for your genitals?

They should put the image on cigarette packets, I but that would reduce smoking.

Thanks guys for looking and commenting.

I am not sure I got it either, so don't ask a middle aged engineer/accountant to interpret art for you.

Seriously though "Irish boy" is the tattoo across the lower back and was my colloquial name for the statue. The statue is "Buck with Cigar" by Marc Quinn in the Art Gallery of South Australia.

From the plaque "It is a life cast sculpture of a female who underwent various sex change treatments. Classical ideals of beauty and perfection are used to explore the ways be which people of bodily difference are viewed in contemporary society. We are conditioned to judge "normality" in relation to rigid gender definitions and this sculpture may generate feelings of disgust miscomprehension or pathos. However Bucks confident pose and genial demeanor does not invite either condemnation or pity"

Ha ha... I just typed at least 3 different replies... then thought the better of posting them. Use your imagination as to what I might have said ;)

The artwork, not so keen on, but YOUR artwork, (as in this pic), is just so perfectly executed. Love the extremely sharp detail, and the interaction within the perfectly composed shot.
