Thought I might show a few Pelican shots I've gotten over the past couple of years.
Sorry they are different sizes but I found them in different albums

Close up and personal. You can see the veins in the beak.

Great shots! We have a small flock of pelicans that come to Calgary every spring. Usually they head much further north for the summer and go back south in fall but we have this little group of about 25 that stick here. I have never been able to get close enough for a decent photo though.

Ours are resident around here I think? I don't think it gets cold enough to scare them off. In my area we get temps of around 30 - 38 c in summer with occassional mid 40's thrown in at times and in winter it gets down to about 0 c max but mostly between about 5 - 10 c overnight low temps and about 20 - 25 c or thereabouts by winters day.

Those are great shots of Pelicans. I wonder why they go to Calgary and not here? Maybe we could do a trade...I'll send you a crate of great blue Herons and you send me a crate of Pelicans:)

Thanks Michael

It would be cheaper to get yours from Calgary I think ;)

I found that do have similar Heron's here ... Great Billed Herons that also have the crest and Librace neck wear :D
