Hey all,
This is a portrait of my Dad I took over the weekend. C&Cs are welcome. Any suggestions in PP appreciated.

Nice shot but something is just not right. I think the yellow background is hurting it a lot. He has a halo around his head. Did you add the yellow in PP? The yellow does not compliment his skin tone at all. I would burn the light area on his forehead and bottom lip, but its not too bad. If you have photoshop, do a little "liquify" on the fold of his neck that is hanging over the collar. Just pull the collar up a little. I would clone out the logo on his jacket, it is a little distracting.

Nothing you can do about it now, but be aware of the reflections in eyeglasses.

There are some strange clone marks on his left ear and right shoulder.

Any advice on how to avoid the reflections in the eyeglasses?
I think I have done a little too much on the cloning bit as there were too much marks here and there.

Someone else will have to give advice on the eyeglass reflection. I believe there is a lens filter for it.

As for the rest, did you try B/W, because you have a very nicely exposed image, just the yellow background is killing it for me (IMO).

I changed the color of the bg and for the reflection, make a new layer and choose the color immediately beside the reflection with the eyedropper and brush with 10% opacity.

You can see his silver hair (probably one of his great features). His hair is lost with the yellow background.

Great job on the reflections in the glasses. You just painted the light spots of the reflection?

Taste is very personal I guess - I think your dad pops better and harder against the yellow. For me the yellow was not the problem.
The hair could be burned in a bit on the yellow and there is a bit of haloing, but for me his face and expression look livelier against the yellow.
