It's a quiet Saturday morning, as it should, and I'm looking for someone to talk to. My coming across this website might be seen as 'trolling' and you may well be right, but isn't that how we find new conversations to participate in? My wife, Christine, says I should get out more and meet people. She thinks I clutter the place, and well I do.
You see, I have become a bit of a recluse since my retirement. The neighbors, when they catch sight of me, call me "grumpy old man", justifiably so after I have abused them for allowing their dog to crap on my lawn or their kids are making too much noise.
So, I keep to myself pretty much. Unfortunately this disposition doesn't make for good company and good conversation. I'm hoping all that can change with a dabble into the forum world.
Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, which, by the way, is contracting rapidly. I've been teaching various aspects of photography for over 50 years. My personal interests are in expression (what some would call art). I'm not a gear head, although I do seem to have accumulated a bit over the years. My views on the 'New' photography are rather hostile at times, certainly deep seated and always highly inflammatory and prejudicial.
I love looking at photos. Any photo. I believe all photos have a value. I don't 'show' my photos, nor consider photography a competition. I see myself as a happy snapper.

I hope I can participate in and share with members here.

Welcome to the forum tomdinning!
What an interesting intro - I do believe you'll fit right in, lots of members just want to express themselves creatively through photography.
There are indeed some strong opinions on this board, but we all get along because we are a friendly bunch - Thx for joining and hope to see some pix soon! :highfive:

Good morning Tom and welcome. From your first couple of posts I can tell you have a lot to offer the forum members. I hope you get out of it what you want too. This was my first foray into the world of on-line forums as well and I am glad that I have stuck around.

Good to have another Aussie on board. There are a few of us here.

Welcome to the forum, Tom. I like you already from your intro. I look forward to your sense of wit and your photography after seeing that 254 Shades of Gray shot. I hope we can keep you amused enough to stay for a while.
