The B-17 flying fortress that played the Memphis Belle in the movie from the early 90's came to Philly a few weeks back, so the family and I went to see it...

She was in Boise in May. One of the local WII vets was a top turret gunner. He'd been down in the dumps, because he'd been sick the last year or so, and in a wheelchair. His daughter took him to see the plane. The crew loaded him up, put her in the nose and took off. When they got back, the ground crew announced he was former crew on a B-17. He got a standing ovation from the crowd, and they lined up for autographs. He was happier after that. His daughter said it seemed like at that point he was just finishing up a few things he wanted to do, seeing a couple of folks, visiting a couple places. He died last month. We're going to his life celebration today (No memorial services allowed. He'd be mad). Sorry to ramble. The CEO'S dad has had health issues recently. I expect he'll be gone soon, too.
