I know he's a rock/pop celebrity type dude, but I've been following his photo work for at least 15 years or more because it's quality work.

Good work...Bankers,corporate CEO's and oil barons should be forced to gaze at these images every morning before they head to work!

And the warhawks in various governmental bodies. Just because this guy's a celebrity photographer doesn't mean he can't do other work, and do it well. Being known means it's more likely to get published. Kudos to him for using his access.

Yes, saw them as well and surprised at myself for not having posted this here, myself! The simplicity of each photo is really it's power. Each wounded soldier is open and vulnerable, yet dignified and strong. It's a job well done.

Ok, I need to add this. Gen.Hillier (Retired) was at our club for a luncheon talk. As I do the in-house event photography, I heard his entire speech. What those guy go through is unfathomable. I could barely keep from tears as he told their stories. He has been a real advocate of for soldiers returning from the war. Some of them scarred by the horrors of war on the inside as well.

I'm glad I saw the photos--the people depicted and their stories are important. But I don't really see much in the way of good photography amongst these photos. I find them very subject-heavy--Ie., I think if given the opportunity most of us would have taken similar if not better photos. Again, I'm talking about the photos as photos and am fully aware that they serve a much higher purpose than an aesthetic one.
