View Full Version : Spring time?
Ohh yah! Got above 0 today and had 10 mins to poke out on the step. Can't wait to get out in full force!
Critques please..don't want to keep doing the same mistakes!! :D
Shot 2. Better with more dof?
Last one. I know the drops aren't sharp. My poor lens just can't do it anymore. But I thought it still looked neat.

First, why do you feel that your lens is the cause of the softness (Which lens?) in #3? As far as critique, #1 doesn't really work for me because of the excessive contrast. #3 is an excellent capture (focus aside), but all three need to be tighter on the water. There's too much boring space around the subject which contributes little to the image.

Like the subjects but looking for more sharpness me thinks.
Try to stop shivering when you take those photos Kat! ;)
Ha ha.. I'm using the broken lens that has to get sent away. Can't zoom in too much or there is no focus to be had and half way there I can see this black thing swipe across the lens as I shoot..taking forever.
Sad sad..it is to be sent off tomorrow to get fixed!!!
On a good note..looking at another lens!! :)
So.. with any luck - when we do finally get spring. I'll be ready!!! So closer and sharper..lol. Hear that a lot :p

Don't know about closer ... just sharper but hey ... with a broken lens what can you do? http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/searchme.gif
And what is the new lens you are thinking of?? Something suitable to landscapes I would imagine?
Ha ha..yah closer. These were cropped. Never gonna use these pics so I had fun :)
I'd like something with a bit more zoom then 135mm. With a lot of wildlife and kids in sports..something I've wanted for a while.
My other lens is a 50 mm 1.4D. A bit hard to get some close drops with that baby..although I love it for the kids!!!
I'm hoping to hear good news in the next 2 weeks from the local photo contest. A new camera with two lens is first..I could use some more lenses!!! :fingerscr

Well judging from your township shots ... I reckon you have the other 2 entrants beat ;)
Seriously though (briefly of course), some of your shots would stand out in a major competition!!

Wow..don't know if I'm more shocked over the brief moment of seriousness or such a lovely comment! Thanks MA! Makes my night :D

Not sure how to help you out too much here. the sharpness has already been mentioned. The first one seems to be blown out as well. The highlights around the tree are distracting as well. Nice to get the water drops frozen in action, but with a broken lens Im not sure these were going to work out in the first place. Just wait for the new lens and go from there.
The third shot is nice, but a little more DOF. It would ruin the action of the shot, but hey, good work with what you had.
