Hi guys. Sorry to be away for so long, but I simply lost any inspiration for photography for a while. Hardly picked up the camera since Thanksgiving. Needed a bit of a break I guess.
Anyway, a colleague at work kicked me in the but and dragged me (well it it didn't take that much effort) to the roller derby.

Man tough lighting conditions for not having done this in a while. Most of the shots were ISO 2000, F2.8, 1/125 sec except for the intentional blurred ones which were 1/15 sec.

Good to see you back asnow. I was beginning to wonder where you had got to. I can sympathise with the lack of inspiration - I think we all need a break sometimes

Fun set, it looks like you were in a great position, and you have done well given the conditions. The are some tough looking competitors out there. The panning shots in post 1 and the first shot in post 4 are my favourites

Welcome back. I've been a bit hit and miss myself so I totally understand. This is quite a set of images... looks like fun. I think we have roller derby here in Halifax somewhere.... I'm going to have to go check it out.

Thanks for welcoming me back. I was getting a little itchy around Christmas and did do a one venture of street photography and the New Years polar bear dip. Nothing great, but I will post something anyway.

Runmonty - You picked my favourites as well. We were right beside the track. You can see in the first one where the other photographers are at the bottom of the picture. By the way for that picture I put it on the timer and held the monopod up as up as high as I could hold it. Always wanted to try that.

Some nice action captures ASnow, and don't worry, we all need a break now and again. Been awhile myself actually.

Thanks HBG. I think the break helped. I actually felt like taking pics again. Mind you Roller Derby was certainly a difficult subject to take pics of first time back. Action is happening so fast you really have to be on your toes and be able to anticipate what is going to happen. The lighting isn't he best either. As a result my hit rate was very small.

Really fun set, asnow! I completely get the lack of inspiration. I'm glad that attendance is taken around here, cause I've certainly gone missing on occasion!
