I like Peter Lik's work.... and yet I'm disgusted by pompous arrogance. My regard for him went way down after reading this article.

Speaking of high paid photographers and she is mentioned in the article:

I currently have one of her photos as my wallpaper on my computer. I just find it endlessly fascinating.

I am not so sure Marko. I am going to throw the cat among the pigeons here.

I too like his work, but also agree with many commentators that is isn't necessarily "fine art" and looks more like commercial photography. It seems to be beautifully presented and would be nice hanging on the wall.

The article did portray him as arrogant, but when looking at the detail there wasn't a lot to support that. There are only about 2 or 3 direct quotes that portray him in a negative light. As an Aussie, I realize that often people don't get our humour and it may well be those quotes were taken out of context. Not trying to defend him - just just saying? There is no doubt he polarizes critical opinion

Yes his business model is aggressive and borders on manipulation of people, but in some sense all business does that. I may not like it, but he fills a niche and you to some degree I cant help but admire his business model. It works. Like so much these days it is a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease and he seems to be a master at manipulating social and print media. (we are discussing him after all). Like I say, I don't actually like it, and I don't think it would be for me, but I take my hat off to him. If galleries wont show your work- start your own gallery.

It is interesting that these articles (not only in the NY Times but around the world) have come out at the same time as he is selling his property. Coincidence??

A while ago (when you posted the link about the record breaking sale I think), I read a number of articles about him. One was about (or by?) one of his original (and now former) employees in one of his galleries. It made for some interesting reading about the sales techniques.

I remember Marko posting this a couple of years ago, so thought I would share the latest Peter Lik controversy. I havent watched the entire video yet, but it seems they may be on to something here.
