This image worked out exactly as I imagined it in my head (although it was very hard to catch him standing still), composure wise anyways. It's from last November, when I was at the lake with my nephew. Unfortunately, I can't find the original, and when I tried sharpening up this one and saving it as jpeg, it looked pretty bad 'cause of the compression. I know it's soft, but other than that....

Critique away! :goodvibes

I think it's cute! My only preference would be to turn the head slightly towards you.

nice lighting, DOF & comp! i wouldve liked to seen his mouth as well, but the little ones are sometimes the hardest to work with.. this shot might look good converted to B&W as well. :)

Pensive moment and pensive feel. I like it but the eye closest to the camera should be even sharper.

Very nice composition and light.

Two harsh light sources well used there Gem. What were they? Sun behind him I'm guessing ... but what about the other source?

As for the composition ... I like it exactly as is. That's not too say other peoples suggestions would improve it a little but I really think it would be 'little'

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Aussie, I'm not sure about the second light source (it was so long ago and I have the memory of a goldfish :p)...maybe the light reflecting off the lake?

Kiley, thanks for the BW suggestion. That never occurred to me. Here it is. I burned in his hair, and tried to make the eye sharper. Don't think the latter worked too well.

They are both great. Its a good image again, so different versions are still going to be good. I really prefer the first of the two. Nice job.
