AT's pics of the symphony reminded me that I don't think I posted pics of last years Leadership Conference that I was asked to take pictures of. As you can tell the theme was 'Change'.
Like AT the lighting was a challenge with light coming in the windows. Also this was the first time doing doing something like this so that added to the challenge as well.

p.s.
I took a guess and rented the 24-105L f4-5.6. However in hindsight I could have used the 24-70L f2.8 as most of the pics were in that range. Oh well learn from experience.

Its a challenge, isn't it? Shooting from the hip and making sure you are doing everything correct helps you when you are shooting at your own pace.

I am doing another one tomorrow. It is a martini making contest and art auction for the Baton Rouge Symphony again. It is a lot less formal event. It is a different coordinator and I told her not expect "party pics" like you have here (people posing for the camera). At the event the other night, I was supposed to grab one posed image, and blew it. I just swapped lenses, and was not ready. It was supposed to be for the newspaper, but luckily the lady writing the article on the event for the paper had her own point and shoot.

The event tomorrow, I am supposed to shot 6 portraits of the judges, but it will be before the event starts and I will use my 70-200, instead of my 10-24

Events are interesting and can be lots of fun. Looks like you got some nice shots there. I'm going to be working the Halifax Jazz Festival this year... I think it's going to be quite a challenge.
