A friend of a friend was looking for a photographer. My friend, whom I did some shoots for, got her friend in touch with me. I told him i am not a wedding photographer, but he saw the shots I did for my friend (Baton Rouge Symphony and Art-ini), and he said thats what he wants, a party photographer.

I was nervous because I have never done a true "paid" photography job.

The wedding was a quick ceremony in their living room (with very little room) and it made for a tough shot, but the rest was just a few family shots and party pics.

They wound up with 242 images and they are very happy with them. I was OK with the images, but these are a few I really liked.

My biggest mistake was staying at 2.8 for most of the time because I didn't want to get too high on my ISO.

The shots you have here aren't too bad for a first wedding. The only thing that I might try and give a little tip to you on is the flash. When I did weddings I found that pointing the flash straight up and bouncing it off the ceiling gave good lighting and almost no flash shadows. That was even in churches with higher ceilings than you probably had in a house. I shot some weddings with my 5D MKII when I had it and used ISO 2000 on most of the shots at around F 5.6-7.1 and didn't have any problems with the noise and got decent exposures. anything that was over or under exposed was so little that a slight adjustment in LR took care of it. Hope this helps some.

Excellent shots and Lorey gives some good advice. You'd be amazed at how much light a bounced flash provides and still looks quite natural. And play with that new beast of yours at higher ISOs. I bet you could even go to 4000 without worrying too much about noise.
