My Three Grandsons

These two photos were made at Thanksgiving this past year. I used a Pentax 67 (http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Pentax_67) with a Takumar 150mm f/2.8 and shot them on Ektar 100. Kodak says that Ektar is the sharpest, tightest grained medium speed color negative film on the market and that you had better like saturated reds and greens. I can't vouch for that because all I've been using in color is the cheap stuff so noting of note to compare it to. I may just stick with it because of my soft spot for the yellow box

All I did to these was to use Nik Software's Pro Contrast, because its so very subtle, and On1's Big Softy vignette. No sharpening or crop.

Nice set - Shot 2 for me please


All I did to these was to use Nik Software's Pro Contrast, because its so very subtle, and On1's Big Softy vignette. No sharpening or crop.

For me the processing on both faces (especially shot 1) is not subtle enough because I noticed it. The faces feel too retouched (must be the combination of soft filter and the contrast pluggin).
I'd be curious to see the unfiltered image.

These are quite striking portraits for me. I love the color rendering of the red hair of both boys and the bokeh is excellent. Perhaps they are slightly over-exposed so the skin tones are very light. Still, wonderful timeless portraits.

Sure. These are the untouched scans provided by the outfit I use for color. I haven't tried my hand at that, yet.

They process for eleven bucks a roll. It doesen't matter if its 35mm or 120mm, the price is the same. Included are low res jpeg scans(<1mb) that they put on line as soon as they are ready so you can have a look before they come in the mail. Its from those scans that I worked with.

The scans I make are saved as tiff's and typically run about 200mb. I should have waited to see what differences there might have been between the two. Still, none of that accounts for the what we see in the faces.

Colors and lighting look great even the back ground matches everything, I agree with Marko as I noticed something on the foreheads of the 2 children wasn't matching the rest.
The average person would not tell the difference, that's why photographers are picky. I still like them.
