Wet season in Bali means lots of low cloud, rain and misty conditions. The extreme heat and humidity caused me all sorts of problems with lens condensation which was a challenge.

The second shot was actually taken for the level 2 assignment, but I realised after the event that even though the main subject isn't following the rule of thirds, the horizon is. I didn't think it belonged in the assignment thread for this reason

I was in Bali eons ago - Loved it. Monkey temple/Monkey forest and Uluwatu temple were highlights.

You would have seen plenty of Aussies then :D. Being only a 4-7 hour flight (depending on where in Australia you are) it is one of the closest O/S holiday destinations for us. It is so cheap too. I have been there 5 times now and would you believe I still haven't been to Uluwatu Temple. Have seen a lot of others but circumstances have been such that I haven't visited Uluwatu. It is supposed to be pretty impressive.

I really like the second photo, with the wide open space and the excellent reflection in the sand. The scene begs for the rule of thirds to be broken. I'm hoping you're going to post more Bali photos.

I also love all that clean whiteness. I also prefer the second because of where couple is in relation to the background, the reflection and the positioning of their bodies.

Thanks MB & JAS. I appreciate the comments. I have been changing my mind over which one I prefer and at the moment I think I like the first as the surfboard is more visible

Yes MBrager I will have a few more to post (as I get to process them), but I will confess I didn't take a huge amount of photos. This holiday was more about sitting on my butt with a book in one hand and a Bintang in the other.

We rented a moped and drove for well over an hour if memory serves through city traffic to get to that temple - crazy experience. It was fab - Get there again one day if it's that close.

Hope to see more pics! Is Bali the only city you visited?

On this trip it was only Bali. Bali is the island and we stayed in a favourite small resort of ours in the beach area of Legian. We did have one day where we went out and about to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and Ubud including the Monkey Temple/Forrest. It was about a 8-9 hour round trip by car.

Oh yes.... the mopeds. The following were snapped from the back seat of a moving vehicle through the windows and are out of focus, have motion blur and are poorly cropped but they may bring back some memories. There were not at all unique, but rather typical

Love those first two, but def agree that the second really appeals to me with the reflection, and the background anchoring the horizon a little more.

Why thank you HGB. Over the time since I posted my earlier comment I am swinging back to prefer the second one too.
