Someone wants to buy the rights to my images

I have a thread on here about my images on display/for sale at a restaurant in New Orleans.

Well, someone just contacted me, wanting to know if I would sell them the rights to the image(s), so they can print and sell them.

I have no idea of the value of something like this. I'm not sure which image(s) they are interested in. I'm guessing it is of the two of the foggy cathedral and of pirate's alley.

Anyone here ever do something like this?

Wow, that is a compliment of sorts, for sure. As long as the intellectual property remains yours, I would think you could easily go for it. Would not prohibit you from selling prints of the same image, I presume?

I don't know, but I could just easily go take another picture of the same thing and the image would be better because of better equipment.

Well, they contacted me back. They just want a digital copy of each image so they can print and frame themselves. They are not looking to market them.

So I guess I will just charge what I charge for a large print, $229.

Well, they came back with an offer of $40 an image. They want 6 images. I turned them down. Then they offered $50 an image and will use me again. They want me to shoot more of New Orleans. I took the offer. I figure a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. They are gong to use some of my older pieces from 3-4 years ago, that I never intended to print or sale, because I didn't think they were good enough, so I am figuring that makes up for the low ball on images I do print and sale.

This company is the company that places pictures and art work in corporate offices' waiting areas, waiting areas in hospitals, etc.

They have a client that wants a bunch of New Orleans images.

I'd say just make sure they can't reprint and sell to other companies without paying you again.

There is no way I could do that other than look at their reputation. It looks pretty legit. They could have just stolen the images off my Flickr acct, so I believe they are pretty honest.
