Hi all,
What I like about negative art is how one can turn relatively very ordinary scene into something quite interesting.

This one works better for me as there is something (tv) to sink my eyes into and the composition feels more balanced. That said? why did you include the bed and hanging plants? Were you careful with all the elements you included?

Imo effects on their own while cool, can rarely carry the image. The image should already be strong and the effect should complement it.

Maybe think about subject matter that works with this technique and create compositions where all the elements are deliberate.... so don't take an ordinary image and add an effect. Shoot a fabulous image to start with. Slow down and think about all the elements in your frame before you click the shutter. Active framing - composition is the key to a shot where norms like color and exposure are thrown out of whack.
Then make it super-fab with the complementary effect. I can see sets of themed images processed in this fashion working well together.
Hope that wasn't too harsh - just meant to help

Thanks Marco. I appreciate the suggestions.
I have to admit that I mostly go with my gut on these things.
If it looks good to me, that's about it.
