I like the first two that I posted. These last are the definition of mediocrity. Would rather have your opinions on these last three more than the first two. Thanks again.

Actually JJ I think the top two are excellent shots! And I'd call them abstract. Simplistic yet full of detail and texture ... harsh light and shadow ... I rate these highly.

The next 3 ...

The first one has some appeal to me which I think would be more so were it in landscape. Could be wrong though.

The green doesn't appeal. Those old metal fittings you seem to like just look like old metal fittings to me. I think if there were something more significant I'd like them.

The third one a good shot though! Great composition of angles and intersecting lines. I'd crop that dark area (roof) out though as it doesn't belong.

I got a thing for shots of rust and decay. Never can pass it up when I see it, so thanks for posting yours. As for the other three, the first one’s ok, but just can’t wrap myself around the other two. The third one would be entirely different if it were of an old structure.

Now that you’ve posted a little rust, I guess I’ll have to show one I got yesterday. I’m not brave enough to put it on the critique thread, though. :)

Thanks MA and BF. The first two were must takes when I noticed it. The last three were pretty forced shots as you noticed. I was trying to get something out of them that wasn't really there. With different lighting conditions that might change but these are getting scrapped for sure. Thanks for the input.

I think I might hold on to the one with the handle for a while anyway. Maybe go back downtown to look for one of the older buildings in Toledo with a similar eve as the one in the third shot. It does have potential.

Are there any parking garages in the old part of town that would allow you to shoot straight on at some of the architecture rather than up at it?

This is actually a propane tank in my brothers back yard. It sits about 4ft or so off the ground. I could spend hours there if I wanted. Figured I would trash it because it could get better, and I can try anytime I want. Would love to hear some other ideas of how to shoot it? I might have an actual picture of it to give you a better idea.

That might actually be fun.
