Taken with a Pani ZS50 PS with a tiny 1 2/3" sensor. Strong back light so it turned out better then expected.
Sometimes it's just fun to push things technically a bit.

Stating the obvious .... this works well in black and white. Well controlled exposure considering the back light.

Yea tech is moving right along. I'm surprised at some of the shots that my nephew gets out of his phone. I wouldn't be surprised that in five years big clumsy DSLRs will be pretty much history even for serious use.

Just for comparison this is pretty much the original 4mb jpg SOOC - it works better in mono as you say.

I quite like the comp here - and I'm a huge cat lover!

My only comment would be that the blacks in the black cat's fur and face look underexposed by a good 15-20% or more - I'd play with levels or dodge to brighten if this were mine. Hope that may help

Yes I understand. Technically you are right. But I made an aesthetic decision not to lift the shadows too much - I like the contrast between the more or less solid black mass in contrast to the white - gives the photo a little extra bling. The final uncompressed file in photoshop before compression does show a bit more DR.

Thanks for the comment - appreciated.
