I was standing in that spot for about 20 minutes waiting to get somebody in white against the background of the black door. Finally, I caught this guy walking down the street in a once in a lifetime perfect timing. Not only did I catch him in the middle of the black door but also got his hands (fingers) perfectly inside the edge of the door.

Really love the perfect framing in the first shot.

Sometimes you are rewarded for your patience and sometimes not. This time you certainly were. B & W works well for this too because of the textures and shadows etc

Nominated in member's choice

All well warranted in my humble opinion.

I feel that the workshops and tours you have done over the past year or so have provided some great photos and in my opinion have really sharpened your skills. I would be interested to hear if you feel the same way.

Thanks again Runmonty. Yes, I feel that the workshops have made a difference. The evidence is the nominations I'm now getting. The workshop I was just on in Lisbon was intensive and at a high level. They went over choosing an artist statement, and using that statement in selecting and organizing your work for presentation. There should be a rhythm to you work (just like in music). Considerations such as subjects, tone, size (landscape vs portrait orientation), colour vs black and white, etc. It’s going to take a lot of work to go through all my pictures and organize them in this manner. The very first thing I will implement is to be consistent in photo size/ratio. I'm used to free cropping the pictures to where it looks best. This works for individuals photos. But when combining them for presentation they should be consistent. As a result I will now crop keeping the original ratio of 3 to 2.
