Most excellent Matt.

Good to see you back around here. I have been wondering how you have been getting on. How are the eyes?

Thanks much Runmonty. Well, it has been a circus, to say the least. After my macular hole operation my vision went from 20/40 (measured with the hole in it) to 20/125. So not much of an improvement, on the contrary. However, as it is with those things, you end up getting a cataract. So I had that repaired, now my vision is back to 20/30. This is definitely an improvement and with glasses this should be returning to even better results. One curious thing: when they removed the bandage after the cataract operation, my left eye perceived colour totally different from my right eye. It is like looking at things with my right eye and seeing it at 6500Kelvin, and my left eye perceives it as about 5100 Kelvin. Makes white balancing an interesting endeavor.

Been shooting with models a bit of late, and am participating on 500px rather than Flickr. This image was a request by the model; she needed it for a submission to a magazine. Not sure if she was successful with that.

And thanks for your concern; greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt

Welcome back Matt. It appears that you have gone through quite an ordeal with your eyes. I'm sure that it is much more of a challenge doing your photography, however you would never know by the results in your latest posts. Well done.

p.s. I've noticed that looking through the viewfinder with my right eye has been getting blurrier over the last few months. I have resorted to trying to use my left eye but that is a bit of a pain. It's not that the eye is changing over time that worries me, but the rate of change (quickly over the last few months) that has me concerned. I plan on seeing an eye doctor to see if there is anything to worry about. It just dawned on me to try using the diopter adjustment. It appears to have corrected most of the problem however it is adjusted as much as it can so it can't get any worse. I realize that this is nothing compared to what you have gone through.

Don't fool around with your eyes, asnow. If you can get to an optometrist, or even an ophthalmologist, it would be advisable. Sudden or faster loss of vision should be a concern, and who knows what is behind it? Yes, the diopter will compensate for some, but it is the band-aid. I'd have it checked out. Too precious a gift to mess with.

My right eye is doing well for focusing, and thus it has not been much of a challenge from that point of view. I used to focus with my left eye, and yes, it is somewhat awkward to do so, since cameras are built the way they are; but it is amazing what one can used to. And thanks for your kind observation.
