Such a cool mood!!!
I think I favour shot 2 here - The tonal range is superior, feels a bit cleaner and the blacks aren't as deep - so all those white specks in shot 1 (which look to be normal) seem to be distracting me.

I think I'd try to pull out about 10-20% shadow detail in shot 1 if this were mine - it's worth the work - the comp is wonderful. This is also one of those rare cases where i think I might try to clone out every speck in shot 1 if opening up the shadow detail doesn't help to reduce their appearance. (they do not bother me at all in shot 2 due to the reduced contrast).
Hope that may help

Get one of these to a framery!

Thanks Run and Marko.

I think the white specks maybe bird droppings. They also bother me in shot 1. I also favor shot 2 because of the minimalism.

I hear you and yes the spots bother me a little as well. If you felt so inclined, 20-30 minutes with the "spot healing brush tool" will fix this. If you only wanted to spend 1 minute on it then use the "dust and scratches" filter (mask it if you feel you need to, but I dont think you will).

I too like the minimalism of shot 2 and the solo bird and it's reflection is awesome too. I just find the composition, tree shape and arrangement of birds more appealing to my eye than shot 2

I absolutely love #2. The reflection and mood is awesome. I bet you it would look really cool framed on a tall wall.

Love these! Especially love the reflection in #2 the birds look like musical notes. Sot the birds in trees have sheet music below to sing to.
