Critique huh.

Firstly I think is a great idea, the quiet zone sign juxtaposed against the busker (or do you call them panhandlers?). I think the B & W processing is good too.

Where is loses it for me is the lack of focus on the foreground subject. It almost feels as though he wandered into the frame as you were taking the photo. Had there been a greater depth of field, I feel this would have worked much better. The fact that he is in shadow does not hurt the photo and in fact may enhance it had he been in focus. Getting picky here, but it is also a shame that the violin is behind his arm. Maybe waiting for down-stroke may have helped this??

I understand why you have framed the photo the way you have (to keep the full lamp post in the frame), but I think it may be more effective by cropping top and left to make him larger in the frame (currently my eye is drawn to the people on the left). Perhaps also crop a little from the right to align the edge with the edge of the building.

Overall a great idea though.

Just my few thoughts for your consideration
