Is my camera broken?

I am noticing a ton of noise in all my images, even though I shoot at 200-320 iso. Or is it just my images are underexposed? The histogram indicates they are not under exposed. Plus, it seems I am not getting sharp images like I use to. I am talking about images taken in normal daylight settings, etc.

Or maybe it is just that I am out of practice. I have not shot like I wanted this year. rarely touching my camera except for my Italy trip (which had a ton of noisy images).


Here is one of my recent images, shot in daylight. If you view it in its largest setting, you can easily see the noise and lack of sharpness on the subject.

Please describe the location of the noise - not so apparent to me.
As for sharpness - it's not so bad - what's the exif data?

I don't know. Ever since I swapped to a laptop, my EXIF data doesn't show on Flickr. I could go to the actual image and find it. If I upload from my desktop, it shows the EXIF.

About the noise, it may just be me. If you zoom in far enough on any image, you will see the noise, plus with a new laptop with a much better quality HD screen, I guess I see it now. I think the sharpness is just me out of practice.

"Quiet zone" seemed to be fairly sharp in the background.

I agree EXIF data may help assess a particular photo. The photo above does seem to have a narrow DOF??

If you are missing EXIF data, it is likely to be the export settings in Lightroom. If you want to include all EXIF data, then ensure that "All Metadata" is selected

I just looked at "gesture 1" on Flickr and although there was a a lot a dark background I couldnt see much noise. His hand and fingers were real sharp, his face a little less so, but I am wondering again if this was very narrow DOF caused by a wide aperture and long lens ???

Ya gotta know the exif data (to eliminate shutter speed error)....or this is guesswork.
I'm w/RM though, I'd guess narrow DOF is the culprit here.

I think it just maybe my UHD laptop screen. My desktop is 6 yrs old.

Here is a shot from Homecoming dance. When I view it in "Actual Size", it seems very noisy, and it was shot at f/7 (or maybe 9), ISO 320. It is soft in the eyes, I must admit

Exif data has 3 main prongs (ISO, Aperture. shutter speed) and all kinds of other data....Please tell us the shutter speed in both shots. Shutter speed is the FIRST thing I want to know when it comes to sharpness....

Shot 2 though....focus looks missed.....but i still want to know the SS.
