Hi everyone!
I'm testing this camera for my wife but come on...it's for me too :)
I have a killer DSLR - but for a portable small camera for wifey....I wanted something cheap(ish) & mirrorless. (This was 600 CAD new.)
...also I've tried the image stabilization on other Oly models and I've been impressed.

Here are 2 shots from last night with the kit lens that came w/the camera
standing man - f/5.6 ISO 6400 1/13 was the shutter.
sitting dude - f/5.6 ISO 6400 1/25 (-.07 exposure compensation)
These were shot in large Jpeg mode - with minimal processing on purpose (cropping - a hint of sharpening)
I have my thoughts on these results but what say you?

Marko I find it hard to comment to review the camera. Is there something in particular you were looking for?

Firstly this camera seems to have excellent reviews and I am sure you have looked at them.

It is unlikely to be a sharp as your "killer DSLR" with and an expensive lens, but given the shutter speeds, the image stabilisation seems to work pretty well.

These days it seems noise is a major difference between cheaper and more expensive cameras. This is still very good, but not what you would expect from a very top end camera at 6400 ISO. (how fussy we have got over the past few years? - Not so long ago I never used to shoot above 800 ISO)

The first has his face a little overexposed but you cant blame the camera for that as I think it is due to overall darker walls and I am guessing a whole of frame metering. (I suggest this why the for 2nd you are using exposure compensation). His dark clothes are still have a lot of detail in the 2nd shot.

White balance - in the 2nd shot the white balance seems different between the guy on stage and the the one bottom left - I assume mixed lighting.

Like I say it is hard to review under these conditions but hope the above helps a little.

It does seem to be a very good camera - especially at it s price point

Appreciate the comments RM - I was asking (or what i meant was) to review the images from the camera - not the camera itself.

anyone else has an opinion on the images themselves?

thx!

For a mirrorless micro 4/3 camera, the dynamic range is pretty good in these photos. The faces of the performers aren't blown out, and the blacks retain texture. Also, the camera has in camera stabilization and that's going to be helpful. These shots look pretty sharp for the shutter speed, both foreground and background. For a relatively low light situation, the 6400 ISO shots aren't too noisy and usable. I would say it's a good deal for a two year old camera. Enjoy.

Thanks mbrager!
I think it's a good value as well - I'm likely to keep it.
I too see noise at 6400 - but not too much noise given the instrument.
This was shot Jpeg and i'm sure i could have massaged the noise down somewhat if i had shot RAW - which are my next tests.

I was reading here (https://rahhdfg.builderall.net/flashmasters/Photography-Focus-Understanding+185012) to bettr my understanding but im still confused, im so new to photography
