What a great spot for a photo. The texture and colour of the wall is a great subject in itself. Add the broken shutters, the bench and the detail of the haircut through the door and it all comes together. You have a good eye for these type of scenes Lorey.

I agree with Runmonty. This spot provides lots of possibilities.
As for this photo, I have one small suggestion. Let me know if you would like me to elaborate.

I think I would prefer it if it had been a fraction of a second later and the woman and child had been between the door and the windows. Mind you her step may have been awkward at that point.

When I take these type of pictures I try and figure out where I want the person walking to be and try and catch the shot when they are there. You could stand there for hours trying to get the perfect person at the right place and in the right walking position. I admit, I don't have that much patience. I usually give up within half an hour and take what I get.

Sorry for the delay in answering... a long busy weekend. My thoughts on your suggestion asnow, is that if the woman and child were in the position you suggested it would put the picture off balance. The larger picture, OPEN sign and bench along with the mother and daughter would have been too much going on on the left side is the way I would see it. I saw them coming so i had in my mind where i would have liked to have had them and that is maybe one step more forward, between the door and window on the right. Just a personal preference. We all look at things a little differently. I do appreciate your thoughts and comments.

My apologies to you asnow. for some reason what you said did not sink in. for some reason I was thinking you were talking about the woman and child being on the left side of the door. why i thought that I have no idea. I completely agree with you as you read in my post. you were probably thinking.. "what??.. that's exactly what I said". Sometimes this old brain just doesn't connect right. Please forgive my inattentiveness to you reply.

No problem Lorey. I'm easily confused at times myself.

Nicely done!! Great colors, texture and "action". I particularly like the clients in the barber shop looking out...maybe at you? Maybe just looking out for no reason! Either way...a wonderful capture of everyday life!
