Yay, I survived my two essays and midterm! To celebrate, I took some pictures of some flowers we got today. Decided to play around with composition. See if I could get anything interesting...

Right. Well then, you people know what to do so I'll leave you to it. Oh, and keep in mind that was done the with macro feature on my canon s5, and various cans acting as proxys for a missing tripod. So...besides sharpness, what else?

Critique away! (Dunno if you can tell, but there is a white border around the pictures.)

Lol, if you shrink this down (or look at it from afar) it doesn't seem so bad. :p

The 3rd shot is the 'pick of the bunch' so to speak.

Nice angle and composition!

All of the photos have some totally dark patches in them which perhaps could been avoided with some reflected light or a slightly larger aperture perhaps.
The 3rd shot has some blown bits so perhaps a larger aperture would have made things worse. A bit of 'dodging' would probably help though.

The 1st shot has an ugly scar and the 2nd shot has some distracting green bits so the 3rd shots gets my vote as the keeper here.

I agree with M.A., the third is the winner. It's very pretty and the colors are vibrant. I like the angle as well. It is disappointing to find that you spend all that money on flowers and then discover that a major flaw ruins your perfect flower photograph as in the first photo. Been dere done dat myself. Luckily, most florists allow you in the refridgerated room to pick out stems. I like photographing flowers. It's a bit fiddly but you get the WoW factor for your efforts. :)

I agree with MA and Raiven that photo is the winner. I don't mind the darkness on the right. I'd think about cropping some of the green on the top left, which I find a little distracting, but all in all a Great Shot!!:highfive:

Also photo 1 would be fine if it were not for the scar.:twocents:

Thanks for the feedback, guys. We didn't actually buy these flowers; they were sent for the sis-in-law.
