I bought a second hand Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD

Is it normal for this large range zoom lens to slide a bit? Like if I have it almost fully extended in zoom and point upwards, the lens slides back in on it's weight.
This is also a slightly noisier lens than I'm used to and wondering if anyone else with this lens can attest to this noise being normal.

Thanks!

Hi Hillaryh! - welcome!
I hate to say it but MANY lenses suffer from 'lens creep'. The pro lenses won't have this...but the consumer or prosumer lines....yup.
The noise though....that's usually a function of the camera's sensor not the lens. If you do a test with any other lens you have at the SAME APERTURE shutter speed and ISO - and lighting conditions - The resulting noise should be near identical...or identical.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Really good to know that lens creep is normal, i was suffering a bit of buyers remorse.

The noise I'm getting is specific to this lens and happens when it's auto focusing. I suspect some amount of noise is expected because of the piezo drive... I just wasn't sure how much noise to expect.
My other lenses are Nikkor and virtually silent. I wonder if I would be able to upload a video to demonstrate the noise. I will look into this.
