I took these shots in K-Country...I like the way the light played on them...any thoughts on how to improve next time I'm up there?
I also thought some DOF might look good with the light in the stands of birch...does it work?
C&C's welcome and appreciated!

Interesting images. They almost both under AND over exposed in places. May have been candidates for an HDR type treatment.
I like the DOF in shot 1 but feel that shot 2 could benefit from a deep DOF. I think all of the trees in front should be in focus in this shot and then the background blurring out as we look further in.
Suggestion for next time? Hmm. Maybe try looking for a spot that allows us to look way deep into the woods and use a shorter focal length. Shorter focal length, higher f-stop, and standing back from the subject as much as practical for the composition you want will yield a deeper DOF.
Hi Casil
Check out a book called Ansel Adams 400 Photographs. The Calgary Library has it. I got mine from Costco. Or Google "Ansel Adams Aspens". Adams made several photos of Aspens in B&W then you will see what Mad Aussie means.
