View Full Version : B&W Nephew
I seem to have developed a B&W and white border (which you probably can't see) obsession with people photography.

ETA: Lol. I think it's less sharp now that it's bigger.

Great shot Gem!! I like it. Don't change a thing!
When in Flickr you should be able to see a text link just above the photos called 'All Sizes' ... click that and your largest size you uploaded should show. Below that images is the url in a separate field ... copy that and use the image icon here to display.
I consider that quite a compliment coming from you, MA :goodvibes And thanks for the tip! The small size was annoying me.

Very cute too!
Thanks, Barefoot and Raiven. This kid has some sort of internal camera radar. He always knew when I had the camera on him. I don't think his mom liked the picture too much though :p Oh well.
Any CC at all, people?

Not from me. Nothing to say. To do so would simply be changing an already great shot.

I think the sharpness is perfect, what bohers me is his eyes, itīs way too dark and thereīs some stuff on it that resembles dust and scratches

I thought about making the eyes lighter, but he's got really dark brown eyes, so I just left. The scratchy stuff bothers me too but I don't know how to fix it http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-confused005.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)
Thanks for the feedback and and comments, everyone! I think this might be one of the few that I actually print out.

I like the shot as well and also noticed the 'scratchiness' in the eyes.
To me it looks like over-sharpening? Can you still see the scratches in the original file?

Well, when I convert it over to black and white, there's some scratchiness. I guess that leaves sharpening...I ran it through the unsharpen mask filter at 0.5 (the default), I thought the sharpening was pretty minimal since I just wanted to define the edges a bit more. Is 0.5 too much?
Gem, I was just wondering if we could see this in color? I know he has some fantastic brown eyes!!

Ask, and ye shall receive ;)
His eyes look pretty ordinary to me http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-confused001.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)

Okay, now that actually worries me since I'm using a canon S5 O_O I usually run my pics through the unsharpen mask filter (at 0.5), but...I don't want it to be overdone and seem like I used something I didn't.
To me looking at the colour pic, some of the lines are reflections of eyelids on the eye. I'm not sure what the others are(stray eye lashes?), but most of the lines are present in both pics. Maybe a little PP in order just to clean them up.
Has the colour one been sharpened? It doesn't look like it...I mean it looks like a very sharp shot that doesn't need sharpening. Great photo Gem.
